Course Description:
This 8-week series is based on the work of Dr. James Gordon, the founder of the Center for Mind-Body Medicine. Dr. Gordon is a Harvard-trained psychiatrist and professor at Georgetown University who is widely known for using self-awareness, self-care, and group support for healing.
During this mind body skills group, participants will learn strategies of self-care, which is the heart of health care, and techniques to enhance well-being and resilience. These weekly two-hour sessions are both educational and experiential.
Key concepts including mind-body medicine, autogenics, biofeedback, meditation, guided imagery, mindful eating, nutrition, and spirituality will be explored.

Week 1: Overview of Mind-Body Medicine
Learning Objectives
- Establish the integrity of the group
- Describe mind-body medicine
- Use drawings for self-exploration, expression, and understanding
Week 2: Biological Underpinnings of Mind-Body Medicine
Learning Objectives
- Understand the basic biology of mind-body medicine
- Demonstrate the use of autogenics and biofeedback
Week 3: Meditation
Learning Objectives
- Understand and experience meditation in the roles of mind-body medicine and of self-care
Week 4: Imagery
Learning Objectives
- Understand the beneficial effects of and experience guided imagery
Week 5: Emotions - Dialogue
Learning Objectives
- Mobilize and transform emotions and understand how they impact us
- Understand the use of dialogue
- Dialogue with a symptom, problem, or issue
Session 1
Week 6: Nutrition and Mindful Eating
Learning Objectives
- Discuss the concept of food as medicine
- Describe healthy nutritional guidelines
- Experience mindful eating
Week 7: Spirituality
Learning Objectives
- Understand the basic concepts of spirituality in relation to mind-body medicine
- Experience possibility for forgiveness and healing
Session 2
Week 6 & 7: Genograms
Learning Objectives
- To discover in a family tree the challenges and strengths that link you to previous and future generations
- To apply the genogram to explore a particular issue or challenge in life
Week 8: Ceremony & Ritual
Learning Objectives
- Discuss the use of ceremony and ritual
- Closing ceremony

This mind-body skill group is offered live through Zoom webinar
Space is limited. Participants will be enrolled on a first-come, first-serve basis
Each participant is an an important part of the group. Therefore, participants must be able to attend the entire 8-week program
This is not a therapy group. This is a supportive educational group with a facilitator who is also an equal participator in the group
Course Tuition: $495
Requirements and Recommendations:
- No experience necessary. This mind-body skills group is open to all.
- Viewing Device: Desktop or laptop computer will provide the best experience, although you can also connect via a tablet or smartphone.
- Internet connection: High-speed broadband wired or wireless is best.
- Video: Download Zoom to your computer, or install the Zoom app to your device. For interactive group sessions, a webcam or integrated camera will allow others to feel more connected with you.
- Audio: Headphone speakers are recommended. If you wish to participate vocally, a headset with a microphone will be ideal.

Jessica Singh, MD, RYT 200
Dr. Jessica Singh is a Yale-trained emergency medicine physician who completed the first physician wellness fellowship in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine.
Dr. Singh is the founder of Sukhayu Wellness. Sukh means peace and Ayu means life in the Sanskrit language. She promotes health and wellness for individuals and organizations as an integral coach, consultant, and educator. She teaches mind-body techniques, including breathwork, yoga, and Ayurveda, and is an Interactive Guided ImagerySM guide. Dr. Singh completed her yoga teacher training at Sivananda Yoga Retreat and is pursuing a Master of Science in Yoga and Yoga Therapy at Vivekananda Yoga University.
