Sound Healing, Yoga, and Science with John Beaulieu

John Beaulieu

Sound is a fundamental part of all yoga practices. In this program Dr. John Beaulieu, a recognized world leader in the practice of sound healing and the use of tuning forks, will explore a modern understanding of sound and vibration as it relates to ancient understandings of health, wellness, and enlightenment. Students will learn how to use tuning forks as modern sound healing tools that integrate with and enhance the practice of yoga. Special emphasis will be given to the scientific understanding of vibration related to neural coherence, yoga postures, rhythmic breathing, and chanting OM. Students will deepen their confidence in the importance of sound practices as an integral part of yoga practice.

Module 1: Tuning Your Nervous System

Sound is an integral part of yoga practice. During this class we will discuss the importance of a daily practice of humming and/or chanting OM to tune your nervous system based on modern research. We will learn how to use BioSonic tuning forks to fine tune your OM and also as a daily meditation tool to induce a state of finely tuned neural coherence.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understanding Neural Coherence in relationship to Yoga
  • How to use BioSonic tuning forks to tune your nervous system and “tune your OM”.

Module 2: The Five Elements, and Stress Science

The Five Elements in the context of stress science is an ancient language of behavioral change related to health and wellness. We will learn the behaviors of the five elements, how they apply to our every aspect of our daily lives, and how to use them to adapt to change. Special emphasis will be given to how to use voice and music to activate different element patterns for stress management, healing, and well-being.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understanding Neural Plasticity in relationship to Yoga and the Five Elements
  • Understanding modern stress science and its relationship to the five elements. The behaviors of each element and how they intertwine to create different energy patterns to meet life stresses.

Module 3: Sound and Vibration: Ancient Knowledge and Modern Science

This class will focus on the dynamics of sound we hear with our ears related to the vibrational behaviors discovered by modern quantum science. Special emphasis will be given to the Nada Bindu Upanishad and its insights into modern yoga sound practices. We will discuss the importance of sound and harmonics as a vehicle to achieve higher states of consciousness.

Learning Objectives:

  • The modern physics of sound and vibration related to yoga and ancient knowledge.
  • The neural anatomy of higher states of consciousness related to yoga and ancient knowledge.
