This interactive experiential workshop is designed for everyone, even those who have found the practice of meditation challenging.
The experiential course begins with an explanation of how our busy minds invent insidious schemes that cause suffering. We will learn the mind is not ‘bad’, it just obstinately wants to stay in control of us.
Meditation is a process of training our mind to serve us rather than dominating us. As you can imagine, the very last thing our mind wants us to do is meditate. And, it will do anything it can to prevent it. Consequently, many people find meditation frustrating and difficult. Fortunately, during Tom’s 40 plus years of teaching, he developed a refreshingly effective approach to overcome the obstacles and take the struggle out of meditation. It ensures everyone will be successfully meditating and will also have a solid foundation to continue meditating on their own. His teachings are crystal clear and easy to follow. They combine profound meaning with light humor.
Each session will have three parts; instruction, meditation and open discussions. They will also include proven practices to find relief from stress, worry, anxiety, fear, guilt, and pain. One or two of these issues will be covered in each session. Tom will explain how unhealthy reactions to these issues causes suffering. You will learn how to deal with them in healthy, constructive ways to diminish the suffering and cultivate healing. It is life-changing for many people.
